Policy Discounts

We are offer a variety of discounts designed to lower the cost of your premium.

New Home
Provides a discount for newer properties that have been built to stronger building standards, with the most significant savings applying to properties built to the current building code.

Retiree
Provides a discount to primary residents who are 55 or older and retired.

Superior Construction
Earn an automatic discount if the exterior walls, floors, and roof of your property were built with noncombustible materials.

Secure Community
Offers discounts to properties located in communities that are gated, guarded or have perimeter walls restricting other access.

Burglar and Fire Alarm
Provides a discount when the property is protected by burglar and fire alarms. A higher discount applies when the alarm is monitored by an alarm company.

Building Code Effectiveness Grades
Discounts apply if your property is located in a community that participates in the BCEG program, and was constructed after the community joined the program.

Lightning Surge Protection
A discount is available if you have a qualified, certified lightning protection system installed in your property.

Wind Mitigation
Provides credits for properties that have been built or updated to meet stronger building codes, such as the installation of approved storm shutters. A wind mitigation inspection may be required.

Hip Roof
Provides a discount for structures that have a roof shape where the ends and sides of the roof slope down to the wall.

Fire Sprinkler Systems
Provides additional credits if fire sprinklers are installed throughout the property.

Deductibles
Your choice of a higher deductible, the amount of money you are responsible for paying in the event of a claim, will reduce the price of your property insurance.

Homes with coverage for losses due to Windstorm or Hail may be eligible for a premium credit.

To determine eligibility, you must have a valid Florida Uniform Mitigation Inspection report from the last five years. 

The Florida Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form must be completed by a registered or licensed design professional, certified building inspector, or general contractor.

The inspector or General Contractor will look at the following items to determine eligibility:

  1. Roof Covering (i.e. shingles, tiles)
  2. Roof Deck Attachment – spacing of nails when attaching the roof and roof deck
  3. Roof to Wall Connection – type of metal connector used to attach the roof (i.e. Toe nails, clips)
  4. Opening Protection (i.e. windows, sliding glass doors, garage doors)
  5. Secondary Water Resistance (SWR) – layer of protection that protects the building if the roof covering fails
  6. Roof Shape (i.e. gable, hip)
