Hurricane Season starts June 1

Take advantage of the Disaster Prep Sales Tax Holidays to stock up!

You can purchase qualifying disaster preparedness supplies exempt from tax during the 2024 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. The sales tax holiday begins Saturday, June 1 and extends through Friday, June 14. A second exemption period will begin Saturday, August 24 and extend through Friday, September 6

Here are some of our recommended "must-haves" for your hurricane supply kit:

  • 3-day supply (minimum) of food and water, consisting of non-perishable items and 1 gallon of water per person per day
  • Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
  • Flashlight
  • First-aid kit and medications
  • Whistle to signal for help 
  • Extra Cash
  • Cell Phone Chargers
  • Dust masks
  • Plastic sheeting & duct tape
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags, and plastic ties for personal sanitation
  • Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
  • Manual can opener for food
  • Extra Batteries
