Tornado Alert Definitions

There are two types of alerts issued when it comes to tornadoes. Here we explain the difference, and what they mean.

Tornado Watch

A tornado watch is advised by the National Weather Service to alert you to the possibility of a tornado. You will want to stay tuned to local news reports for changing weather conditions.

Tornado Warning

A tornado warning means that a tornado has been sighted near your location. Seek shelter immediately, and listen closely for weather updates. Click here for further instruction on what you should do if you find yourself in a tornado's direct path.
