Florida Family Insurance Funds Scholarships for 14 Low-Income Florida Students

Florida Family Insurance contributed $75,000 to Step Up for Students in 2013, enough to fund scholarships for 14 low-income, at-risk Florida students. The contribution was made through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which serves students statewide. “As a company, we are Floridians serving Floridians,” says Peter Corrigan, President. “It’s important to us to promote to the education of youth in our own communities.” Florida Family has contributed $200,000 since joining Step Up for Students as a corporate partner in 2010.

Step Up For Students is a nonprofit organization responsible for administering the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship program, available to K-12 low-income students. Qualified students are eligible for scholarships to the private school of their parents’ choice or transportation assistance to an out-of-district public school. Scholarships are funded by corporations that receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for their contributions. For more information about the program, visit www.StepUpForStudents.org.
